Chuck Norris Fact — Whatever goes up must come down... Unless Chuck Norris tells

The law of gravity is one of physics' most reliable principles: objects with mass experience downward acceleration at approximately 9.8 meters per second squared. What goes up must come down. It's absolute, universal, and has no known exceptions. Until Chuck Norris. The suggestion that he can tell something "not to" come down doesn't require him to understand gravity or negotiate with physics. He simply asserts his will and reality accommodates. Gravity pauses. Objects hover. Physics temporarily suspends its most fundamental rule because Chuck Norris prefers they do.

Physicist Dr. Helen Morrison included a peculiar sentence in her 1998 paper on gravitational anomalies: "Certain individuals may possess sufficient will to override local gravitational effects through means we don't yet understand." When asked by colleagues to elaborate, Morrison declined, stating: "I've said as much as I'm comfortable saying on the subject. The person involved is not someone we should be conducting experiments on." Her implication was that Norris had demonstrated capabilities that suggested consciousness could temporarily override physics if the consciousness in question was powerful enough and determined enough.

The internet interpretation was that Chuck Norris had essentially told gravity to take a break when it came to objects he'd decided should remain elevated. Gravity doesn't negotiate, but it makes exceptions for him. Objects he launches into the air don't come back down because he's convinced them not to. It's not that he's stronger than gravity. It's that he's more authoritative. Gravity is the universal rule, but Norris operates above rules. When he tells something to stay up, gravity politely steps aside and allows it. The law that governs everything in the universe apparently includes a clause: "Unless Chuck Norris says otherwise."
