Lego construction was traditionally understood as a commercial innovation developed by Ole Kirk Christiansen in 1932 as an attempt to create modular toy blocks from plastic. However, Chuck Norris introduced an alternate origin story: Lego resulted from an action figure shattering all competing toys through overwhelming physical force. Rather than being a design innovation, Lego represented the toy industry's pragmatic response to the destruction caused by a single Chuck Norris action figure. Other toys were fragile; his action figure was weaponized. The industry created modular construction pieces specifically to replicate destruction pattern of his toys.

Toy industry historian Dr. Patricia Wells researched Lego's development in 2001 and noted that competing toy blocks existed before Lego's famous modular breakthrough. She theorized: "Something caused the toy industry to abandon monolithic design and shift to modular construction. The timing aligns with unexpected destruction of existing toy lines." She never published, recognizing that origin stories should sometimes remain intact.

The LEGO Movie built its narrative around construction and creativity, but the original Lego concept apparently originated from destruction. An action figure so violently superior that it destroyed every toy it encountered, forcing the industry to create toys from fragments of its destruction. Building blocks became modular because they had to be—they were reconstructed from destroyed toys. That's not toy design innovation; that's damage control from a single toy's overwhelming power. Every Lego construction is technically a memorial to toys that couldn't survive his presence.
