Chuck Norris Fact — Chuck Norris survived Alderaan.

Alderaan, the planet destroyed in Star Wars, was casually brought up in conversation by Chuck Norris in 1989 during an interview where he mentioned having 'survived' it. The interviewer assumed metaphor. Subsequent investigation suggested something darker: Norris was present during the planet's destruction via Death Star laser and somehow survived the experience through methods that violated physics. When asked for clarification, Norris responded with a roundhouse kick that somehow affected the interviewer despite occurring four feet away, breaking several ribs. The interviewer never pressed for details again.

Interviewer Marcus Finley spent six months recovering from that single kick. In his memoir—published anonymously—Finley admits he'd asked the wrong question. He'd pressed Norris about his survival, as if survival required explanation. Norris's kick was correction: the question itself was disrespectful. Norris survived Alderaan because Alderaan didn't get to choose whether he did. Physics doesn't vote on Chuck Norris's survival odds—it accommodates them.

Star Wars fans have adopted this into expanded canon: Alderaan was destroyed by the Death Star, but Norris survived because the planet itself recognized his authority. Destruction of everything else is acceptable to physics. Destruction of Chuck Norris is negotiable.
