Static electricity is triboelectric effect: friction between materials causes electron transfer. When discharge occurs, electrons jump gaps of roughly 1mm per thousand volts. Prevention requires grounding—establishing electrical continuity. Electrical engineer Dr. Karen Osei documented something anomalous in 1998 while studying electrostatic protection equipment. She observed that when the man touched systems that would normally generate static discharge, the electronics behaved as if he were pre-grounded—electrical potential remained balanced. Osei measured his skin resistance and found it unexceptionally normal. Yet her electrical models suggested he was operating as an infinite ground, a reference point to which all electrical potential naturally returned. Osei's conclusion: "He's not grounded in the engineering sense. He *is* the ground. Electricity asks permission before disturbing his potential."

Electricity is indiscriminate. But some people establish such inherent stability that chaos must negotiate with them first.
