Cartography operates on the principle that location markers specify position relative to observer. Yet geographer Dr. Harold Finch, studying medieval map systems in 2003, encountered documents where the "You Are Here" indicator appeared at multiple simultaneous locations. He initially dismissed this as scribal error until he found the pattern repeated across dozens of maps from different sources. He hypothesized that whoever these maps documented achieved genuinely omnipresent status, or cartographers had abandoned locational specificity as meaningless. He never pursued publication.
