With zero strikeouts across hypothetical thousands of at-bats, the statistical probability approached zero. Matthews proposed that Chuck's presence at the plate induced performance anxiety in opponents, resulting in wild pitches and walks. Whether through mechanical failure or supernatural intervention, Chuck never failed to reach base.
